Vadodara
Ruling BJP in Gujarat today succeeded in retaining control of the Vadodara District Milk Producers Society, better known as Baroda Milk Dairy.
Its two nominees were declared unopposed to the posts of Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Society, a victory which comes close on the heels of the party’s defeat in the November 29 polls to Vadodara District Panchayat and six of the eight Taluka Panchayats here.

Dinesh Patel, BJP MLA from Padra Assembly constituency of the district, was re-elected Chairman and Ganpatsinh B Solanki Vice-Chairman for a term of five years each.
The annual turnover of Baroda Dairy is Rs 1,000 crore. As many as 1,128 members from village-level milk societies are affiliated to Baroda Dairy, which held elections for its 16-member Board of Directors on November 19. BJP panel had then bagged 6 seats, Congress 4 and Independents won 3.
The remaining three directors are the Registrar of the Cooperative Department of Gujarat Government, nominee of the Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation and Managing Director of the Baroda Dairy.
