Man attacked by lions in Amreli, herd of big cats move in residential area in Junagadh

Amreli/Junagadh: Even as a herd of 8 lions/lionesses including at least two cubs was seen moving dangerously in a residential area near Girnar Darwaza in Junagadh district late last night, a man was today attacked and injured by three other such big cats in a forest area in Savarkundala taluka of neighboring Amreli district.

Vinu Gamra a member of a Maldhari (owner of cattle) family in Aadsang village of Savarkundala was attacked by a group of three lions and lioness while he was grazing his own goats in Oghad area. The beasts however fled leaving him injured in neck and face when other members of his family arrived hearing his shout.

He has been admitted to hospital. Earlier on May 28, A 30 year old man was also attacked and injured by a lioness in Kodiya village in Khambha area of Amreli district where three cases of human killing by the lions of Gir forests, the sole abode of Asiatic lions, had taken place in less than two and a half months time apart from one such death owing to lion attack three days ago in Gir-Somnath district.

Meanwhile the video of around eight lions/lionesses moving along roadside in residential area near Mota Girnar Darwaza went viral today. In the mobile phone camera filmed video. the beasts are seen moving dangerously crossing several residential units.
