August 23, 2016
Gandhinagar: All Congress MLAs barring leader of opposition Shankersinh Vaghela and Balwantsinh Rajput were suspended for a day from house after they created ruckus.
Congress MLAs demanding sitting High Court Judge probe in Una atrocity incident shouted slogans, displayed banners in the house. They rushed to the well and threw bangles over treasury benches where chief minister and ministers were sitting.
Congress MLAs barring two were then declared suspended from the house for a day. Some Congress MLAs had to be forcefully evicted from the house.
Latter in the lobby of assembly, Congress MLAs dressed banners on their bodies and marched shouting slogans.
Two-day long monsoon session of Gujarat assembly is going to end today. Like every time Congress has organized a protest march during the assembly session hours. Like every time Congress has created ruckus and party MLAs have rushed to well knowingly that it would definitely invite suspension as per the tradition established by earlier Speakers. Like every time Congress would be absent in the house when key motions and bills are to be discussed and passed. Like every time Congress would address media outside the assembly complex wearing banners or masks or some other prop in hand.
Congress MLAs and leaders were scheduled to join and will join ‘Jan Akrosh’ march and face detention by police. On the other hand the ruling party BJP will enjoy smooth sail in the house on the second and the last day of monsoon session.
Yesterday on the first day of two-day session, the house was adjourned after unanimous election of Speaker, voice-vote election of Deputy Speaker and paying tribute to Pramukh Swami Maharaj and others.
