October 02, 2016
Gandhinagar: ‘Mahatma Gandhi to Modi’ a book authored by Dr. Rajeshkumar Acharya, an Intellectual Property Lawyer based in Ahmedabad and Girishchandra Tanna, a retired Senior Government Officer and Research Lawyer, was unveiled today by Governor O.P. Kohli, at a special book launch function held at the Raj Bhavan here in the presence of guests.
The book analyses and draws ideological parallels between Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on key themes of nationalism, poverty and inclusive development.
On the occasion Mr. Kohli said, “ The authors have narrated the convictions and commitments of Prime Minister Modi. They have highlighted the accomplishments of Mr Modi who was deeply inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Swami Vivekanand. The book depicts thoughtful ideas and dynamic leadership of Mr Modi who has dreamt to transform our nation on the principles of Antyodaya and Seva Parmo Dharma.”
“The book pointedly evinces his accomplishments, managerial skills, unique vision, and dedication to the nation and his commitment to uplift the poor. The authors have tried to highlight how his development model is rooted in Gandhian ideology. Modiji’s motto of “Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Vikaas” is fulfillment of Mahatma Gandhiji’s dream Sarvodaya. I wish
the publication of this book all success.” the Governor said.
Mr. Acharya elaborated on the book saying,“The independence of India and the pivotal role that Mahatma Gandhi played in accomplishing it, is not only unique but also set new precedents for people striving for liberty and equality across the globe. The idea of a single unified nation, non-violent struggle, self-reliance and inclusivity, forged a previously fragmented people into the glorious nation of India. What we have tried to do is allegorically look at how Mr Modi has reinterpreted the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhiji and successfully translated them for a modern India, without losing the essence or purpose of Gandhiji’s teachings.”
Mr. Tanna, the co-author of the book said, “We have meticulously researched into Modiji’s inspiration drawn from Gandhiji, Sardar Patel and Swami Vivekanand. His model of governance is rooted in the principle and teachings of these stalwarts, be it spiritual, socio-economical or political. Our book is an analytical journey on how Modiji has carried forward the legacy of the Mahatma with courage and equanimity.”
The book is published by Ahmedabad based Nanoland Group and is available for purchase online at www.gandhitomodi.com.
