Thousands march in rally in support of police in Rajkot following arrest of 5 cops in alleged encounter case

Rajkot: As many as 10,000 people were on road today in Rajkot in support of city police that has carried out a drive against criminals in last few months and made law and order situation better here.

For last two days, thousands of people are marching in rallies in support of police following a double murder case in which police persons are facing actions.

Notorious criminal Shaktisinh alias Pendo and anther youth Prakash Lungaria from Dhrangadhra were murdered on 1st January night. According to police version both killed each other during infighting that irrupted due to dispute over distribution of looted money.

However family members of Prakash Lungaria refused to accept dead body and alleged that Prakash was killed in police encounter. They sought action against police and CBI probe too. As Prakash was Patidar by caste, the leader of Patidar quota agitation from North Gujarat Laljibhai rushed to Rajkot and further propelled the issue playing caste card.

 

 

 

 

Under pressure, Rajkot police filed case against unnamed cops. Later Thorala police station inspector S.N.Gaddu was identified by Prakash Parmar, Yuvrajsinh Jhala and Kadar Malek who were arrested earlier. Probe team led by ACP Solnaki conducted probe at Dhrangadhra and revealed that both Pendo and others were picked up by police from Dhangadhra. Police took statement from people in Narsimhnagar locality and got to know that on 31st December night, two officers of Rajkot police and 4 to 6 cops came in two cars and picked up Pendo and others.

According to plea filed by Prakash’s father Devrajbhai through advocate Sanjay Pandit, Dhrangadhra cop V.R.Chaudhary conducted liquor raid and picked of 6-7 persons including Prakash and Pendo, of which one or two were booked for prohibition offense and others were handed over to city crime brandh of Rajkot. They were Prakash Lungaria, Shakti alias Pendo Pradipsinh Jhala, Kadar Niyamatbhai Malek, Prakash Rachhodbhai Parmar, Yuvrajsinh Labhubha Jhala. After they were brought to Rajkot, they were beaten by police at headquarters, Bhaktinagar police station and Thorala police station due to which both died. Prakash’s father didn’t name any cop in his complaint but described possible names including HM Gadhvi who is Inspector in Crime Branch, KK Jadeja who is Sub Inspector, Kanamiya who is also Sub Inspector, VK Gadhvi who is Police Inspector, Gaddu who is Police Inspector of Thorala police station and Dhrangadhra cop VR Chaudhary.

For last few months, under the vigil and guidance of efficient police commissioner Anupamsinh Gehlot, Rajkot Police has successfully nabbed all main mafias and criminals and earned people’s love and admiration. Common opinion on street is that police morale has to be intact in order to continue to allow the city of Rajkot to remain safer. The city witnessed high criminal activities in past few years before Anupamsinh Gehlot came as city police commissioner.
