Launch of 3D Light and Sound show at Fort Diu from next month

Diu: The tourists visiting the union territory of Diu, adjoining Gujarat, would be able to see a magnificent 3D light and sound show at the world famous Fort Diu there from next month which will initially be in English in the voice of noted actor Kabir Bedi while the Hindi version will follow soon in the voice of superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

Collector of Diu P S Jani today said that the show would be a part of a bigger project of developing the site of the fort which was among one of the 100 Aadarsh monuments selected by the Union Ministry of Tourism. The show in all likelihood would start from next month as the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has already issued a no objection certificate for it.

Meanwhile, Head of the division of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), pertaining to light and sound shows, Anil Kumar Gupta today said that the show of around 35 minutes of length was ready in its English version with Kabir Bedi’s voice and would be started by next month.

‘For the dubbing of Hindi version in the voice of Amitabh Bachchan, we are waiting for dates from him. The show in its Hindi version would also be launched as soon as the dubbing completes,’ he said adding that the Hindi show was earlier planned to be dubbed in the voice of Late Om Puri but later it was decided to take the services of Big B for it.

‘The administrator the UT of Daman and Diu, Praful Patel had shown special interest in Amitabh’s voice. We had a meeting with him last week and the dates for dubbing are likely to be finalized soon,’ Gupta said adding that the show would throw light on the history of Diu and other aspects in an interesting manner.

Notably, Fort Diu, is located near the coast in Diu and was built by the Portuguese during their colonial rule hundreds of years ago. It is also among one the new seven wonders of Portugal built during their colonial rule.

Collector Jani said that the monument site was being developed in a visitor friendly manner with facilities like wi-fi, interpretation, audio-video centers, better wash rooms, signage, cafeteria and making it accessible to differently abled.
