Body of missing grand-father of cricketer Jaspreet Bumrah fished out of river Sabarmati in Gujarat

In a suspected case of suicide, the body of 84 year old grand-father star Team India pacer Jaspreet Bumrah, Santokh Singh Bumrah was today fished out of river Sabarmati near Dadhichi bridge in Ahmedabad.

Santokh, who had gone missing since December 8, had also made a touching appeal to Bumrah through media days before his death.

PI Vastrapur M M Jadeja today said that Santokh, who used to live in Kichcha town of Udham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand with the one of his sons, had come here a few days back and was staying with his daughter Ravinder Kaur in her residence near Vastrapure lake. She had lodged a complaint on December 8 that he had gone missing since noon and his phone was also switched off.

His body was found today. The matter was under investigation though the possibility of his commuting suicide could not be ruled out.

Meanwhile, in his last interview with a local tv channel Santokh, who was earlier a successful businessman with three fabrication factories in Ahmedabad till 2001 when father of Jaspreet, Jasbir died of Jaundice, he can be seen saying that his last wish was to hug Jaspreet once before his death. He had however alleged that Jaspreet’s mother was not letting her son meet him. He however can be heard showering blessings on Jaspreet in the video.
After the death of Jaspreet’s father bad luck struck him again and he went in to penury and the factories were sold. He left for Kichcha and went in to transport business in 2006. He lived there with Jaspreet’s uncle who is physically handicapped. His wife had died way back in 2010.

Notably Jaspreet, who lives in Goyal park area close to Sal hospital in the city with his mother, is out of Ahmedabad in connection with ongoing matches of team. India.
