Gandhinagar: Gujarat Minister of State for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja today said that to identify the culprits of the violence and arson in Ahmedabad this evening in the name of protest against movie Padmawat CCTV footage were being searched.

He also said that he has sought report as to why despite order of security to cinema halls and multiplexes and deployment of police such incidents took place.

He said that police has nabbed some of the hooligans and the investigation was on.

Jadeja, who also belonged to Darbar community which was against the release of the movie, to a query said that it was not correct to say that the Gujarat government which had earlier twice banned the movie, was going soft against the protesters.

He said that some anti social elements were trying to disturb the peace in the state but it won’t be allowed. ‘The police has been ordered to deal with such elements with more strictness and not allow the repeat of such incidents anywhere in Gujarat,’ he claimed.

Jadeja also said that Gujaratis were by the very nature peace loving people.

Notably over two dozen vehicles mostly two wheeler were burnt down and several others including four wheeler and an ambulance were damaged by the protesters who were earlier part of a candle march against the movie. They were also allegedly involved in looting of some shops and vandalizing them and stone pelting.
