Pictures uploaded on social media; BSF suspends nod to visit Savla Pir

Bhuj: India’s Border Security Force(BSF) had permitted local pilgrims to visit Savla Pir shrine for five days, however due to violation of terms and conditions, the BSF has decided to restrict the entry of pilgrims again.

Savla Pir, which has Muslim dargah is located at strategic place between Indo-Pak border in Kutch district of Gujarat. BSF has a full fledged border post at Savla Pir which is accessed only through boat.

BSF had permitted locals for a brief time period to visit Savla Pir, but without mobile phone. Visitors were also required to show their identity proof.

However soon after the nod was given to visit Savla Pir, BSF officials found that some pictures of Savla Pir visit were uploaded on social media by pilgrims, though mobile phone or camera was not allowed.

In immediate response, BSF has suspended the permissions.

It should be mentioned here that local fishermen were extending their services to carry the pilgrims to Savla Pir.

Entry to Savla Pir is permanently restricted barring a small window period during the year if BSF finds it suitable. Local Hindus and Muslims have belief in Savla Pir dargah. Due to ‘presence’ of Savla Pir, BSF jawans posted there don’t consume liquor or non-vegetarian food items.
