Jamnagar: Jamvanthali based 77-year old Haribhai Veljibhai Kholiya who is known as Haribapa had predicted his death and told his followers on 23rd April that God himself had come to meet him and told that he would come to take him in a plane and his life would end at 5 pm on 24th April. Large number of people gathered at Paramdham Fulwadi of Shri Krushna Narayan sect where Haribapa lives to witness his passing away on 24th April.

However, contrary to his prediction, Haribapa didn’t die. He had shut his eyes during 4.50 to 5.05 pm in order to display that he was dead. But he couldn’t stay in this state for long. He soon opened his eyes and even gave interviews to various local TV channels admitting that his prediction had went wrong. Shocked by own wrong prediction and related embarrassment, Haribapa was first taken to Dhrol based medical facility and later to Jamnagar based GG hospital and admitted to Intensive Care Unit(ICU).

Even after great embarrassment on 24th, Haribapa is continuing to fabricate fancy stories. He now claims, ‘I speak to God regularly. He came to take me and my heart had stopped beating. After ten minutes, my heart started working again and later I was in unconscious condition. My lord will come again soon and take me with hm.’

Haribapa’s is doing well now and his medical reports are also normal. But post his death prediction drama, the number of devotees has eroded. City based psychiatrists have in their comments termed this a case of psychiatric disorder.
