Vadodara: Dr. Jigisha Sheth has been elected as new Mayor of Vadodara with Jivraj Chauhan as Deputy Mayor. Satish Patel has been appointed as Chairman of Standing Committee.

Dr. Jigishaben has thus become the 57th Mayor of Vadodara. She is also third woman Mayor of Vadodara. Dr. Jigishaben was earlier Chairman of Standing Committee. Non-controversial and experienced, Dr. Jigishaben will be on the post of Mayor for two and half years term, reserved for woman candidate.

Jivraj Chauhan is party’s senior dalit leader. In 2012 Gujarat assembly polls he wanted to contest the assembly poll, but he was denied ticket.

New Mayor has replaced outgoing Mayor Bharat Dangar.
