Chhota Udepur:
BJP leader and Chairman of Gujarat state Sheep & Wool Development Corporation Ltd Bhavan Bharvad today claimed that he and other leaders of the party used to take money from the tribal funds while he was MLA of the Congress party.
Addressing a function at Pavi Jetpur on the occasion of tribal day in this tribal district of central Gujarat Bharvad gave this controversial statement.
‘You all never knew what was happening at that time. We used to take out money from your funds when I was Congress MLA,’ he said alleging that Congress party did not care for tribal welfare.
Meanwhile Congress has taken strong exception to the statement and said that now that Bharvad was BJP leader, the ruling party should take action against him.
‘Had Bharvad made such a statement while he was with Congress, we would have immediately ousted him and set up an inquiry in to the matter to recover the money that he had embezzled. Now that he has joined BJP, the party must take action against him,’ state congress spokesperson Himanshu Patel today said.
