Narmada water enters Shetrunji dam of Bhavnagar; SAUNI to complete next year says CM

Gandhinagar: Another dam in Gujarat is now filled with Narmada water. This latest one is located in Bhavnagar district. It is main source of water for Bhavnagar city and district.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today welcomed and worshiped the inflow of Narmada water at Shetrunji dam in Bhavnagar.
He said, next year 115 dams of Saurashtra will be filled with Narmada water under Rs. 18,000 crore SAUNI project initiated by then CM Narendra Modi.
Rupani dedicated Bhimdad – Shetrunji reservoir pipeline through which Shetrunji dam is going to be filled upto full level. Rupani said the State government has planned to set up several desalination plants in coastal areas, of which one will come up in Bhavnagar district.
Rupani dedicated a hospital built at Alang in cooperation with Gujarat Maritime Board(GMB). He also dedicated Rs. 23.73 core multi storey police housing building and performed ground breaking for Shetrunji – Raydi reservoir pipeline and 2,496 EWS-1 and EWS-2 housing units.
