Rich Peoples’ New Ahmedabad:A Funky Video & Hard Truth

Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat

GIHED is an organization of builders(builders in Ahmedabad like people to say them Developers) in Ahmedabad. GIHED has become well-known in recent years, thanks to new trend of aggressive property related reporting in local newspapers, especially Times of India on the front page and Divya Bhaskar on it’s paid supplement page.

In Ahmedabad, GIHED organizes annual property shows on a large scale. The video above(in two parts here) was created on the occasion of GIHED’s 2008 property mega show. Major part of this video features new Ahmedabad that has emerged in mainly last one decade on the western side of Sabarmati river.

This Video shows a developed Ahmedabad, but hello hello !! Can we also go beyond the “make up” of this city to unmask a real face ? the fact is that, we can depict this Ahmedabad as just rich peoples’ Ahmedabad. It is a hard fact that the way new Ahmedabad has developed, it makes it a city only for rich peoples. In new Ahmedabad there is no place for a middle class or poor family because they can not afford it.

Visiting GIHED’s property fair 2008 was painful for most of the visitors belonging to middle class because almost all schemes that builders offered in this show were in the range of 5-6-8 millions to 20-30 millions Rs.

Ask for a bungalow on Science city road(that is far far away from Railway station or airport) and know that it’s cost is 15 to 20 million bucks, ask for a 3bhk flat and you get shocked to hear it’s price at 6.8 million bucks in Prahaladnagar area near S.G. highway. Any 2BHK(2 bedroom, hall, kitchen) flat in western side of Ahmedabad does not cost less than 1.5 million to 2.0 million. This has become a starting price for such an apartment. Even Chandkheda area now charges 1.6 million bucks for 2bhk flat.

Last scheme of lower price in Ahmedabad announced and implemented was Bakeri’s Shrinandnagar scheme decade back in Vejalpur area. This scheme offered low cost flats(of 2.5 lakhs 1bhk) because it’s location was at ‘Vejalpur-Juhapura border’ of Hindu-Muslim area. However once Hindus started residing there in a considerably well figure, it’s prices have also escalate then after.

So 2 crore bungalow and 3 crore bungalow with swimming pool, security, garden or golf course is not a news. Not at all now anymore(Times of India people should please skip such news). Ahmedabad is actually desperately waiting for not next Rolls Royals or Merc but a “NANO” of property market. Some affordable scheme at reasonable location in the city for common man. Some Tatas in Ahmedabad’s property market are urgently needed. GIHED people, are you listening?
