Mumbai attacks:Modi calls up Maharashtra CM to offer Gujarat’s help

Gujarat Chief Mininster Narendra Modi called up Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Home Minister R R Patil over a phone on Thursday morning and offered all possible help including police and forensic science help from Gujarat in in wake of terror attacks in Mumbai. Modi condoled the death of innocent civilians and police officials in the attacks and also expressed his desire to visit Mumbai and meet the family and relatives of police officials who were killed in encounter however Maharashtra CM Deshmukh requested Modi not to undertake the visit at this moment when the encounter between terrorists and security forces was still on.
On Thursday morning at 9.00 am Modi convened an emergency meeting to review the “internal security” in the state. Gujarat’s Minister of state for Home Amit Shah, Gujarat Police Chief P.C.Pande, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner OP Mathur, Home Secretary Balvant Singh, Senior Police officer PP Pande were among those present at the meeting. There were reports that the terrorists who carried out the strikes in Mumbai came by boats.Considering this fact the meeting also reviewed coastal security and vigilance in the state.
Talking to reporters Modi said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should call a meeting of all Chief Ministers to review the internal security of the country in wake of the terror attacks. The Prmie Minister should also call a separate meeting for the coastal states that are located near Pakistan.
