Rabari vs Patidar riots continued and intensified on third day in Ahmedabad’s Ghatlodia, K.K. Nagar, Sola Road areas.
Bikers from Rabari community started a riot today and damaged 6 cars of Patidar motors. They also thrashed six youths in K.K.Nagar area. They damaged several vehicles on which ‘Patidar’ was written, and thrashed the owners on the roads.
Reacting back, the Patidars attacked several houses owned by Rabari families. Stone pelting, mob violence incidents continued to happen throughout the evening on Wednesday in the areas around K.K.Nagar.
Police lobbed seven tear gas shells on the mobs belonging to Rabari and Patidar communities. It was visible that people from other sections of the society were joining Patidars against the Rabaris.
Almost whole western Ahmedabad police staff along with SRP, Quick response team, Crime branch etc. was deployed in the area with at least 50 police vehicles continuously moving on the roads. Police shut down the shops in the area and there was virtually a curfew like situation in Ghatlodia, Sola Road, KK Nagar localities.
The skirmishes between Rabaris and Patel started on Monday when Patidar(Patel) family’s house was attacked by Rabari neighbors in connection with minor dispute over garbage disposal.
In a latest development in late Wednesday evening, two Rabari gents on bike were stopped at Sola Gam and badly beaten by the Patidars and other community members. They were later taken to the Civil hospital for treatment.
