Crocodile walking on foot path, scared people call authority
Vadodara, 5 August, 2010
The citizens on morning walk in Vadodara at Vadodara’s Sayaji Bag zoo were surprised to see a full-size crocodile walking freely on foot path here on Thursday morning.
They contacted the Vadodara Municipal Corporation and Zoo curator.
Vadodara Municipal Commissioner Maoj Das himself was at Sayaji Bag as morning walker.
A Crocodile volunteers team under supervision of Zoo curator Shri C.B.Patel captured this very active adult crocodile in minutes, through jute bags and ropes.
Crocodile was unloaded in cart and released in nearby Vishwamitri river.
According to Vadodara Municipal Commissioner Manoj Das, the Vishwamitri river that flows in the middle of the city harbors many crocodiles, and even in past, there were many instances when crocodile entered into the city from Vishwamitri river.
He said, due to heavy rain yesterday, the water level of Vishwamitri river went upto 15 ft. This could be a reason why crocodile came out of the river and entered Sayaji bag zoo nearby.
