Winter schedule of airlines in India is now effective, but there’s no direct London-Ahemdabad flight, as promised by central Civil Aviation minister Praful Patel.
Central Civil Aviation minister Praful Patel had announced direct Ahmedabad-London flight service from winter schedule, in a function at Ahmedabad airport on 4 July in presence of three central ministers and Gujarat Chief Minister.
Patel had said in his speech that Ahmedabad-London non-stop flight would be started from winter schedule.
Winter schedule is now effective from 1st November, but there’s no direct flight between Ahmedabad and London.
Patel had promised direct flight to London not only during the Ahmedabad function, but he had also repeated his this promise on camera, while speaking with the media persons in Gujarat’s Amreli, during his personal visit to a Muslim fakir.
When Air India’s winter schedule was announced, the Gujaratis in London were furious as there was no provision of Ahmedabad-London direct flight in the time table. However the people around Praful(known as page3 Prafool) continued to make Gujaratis fool by saying that it was just Air India schedule, and Gujaratis should wait for the schedule of other airlines too. However now when winter schedule has arrived, Patel can not make the people fool anymore.
And Ahmedabad-London direct flight is not the only promise that Praful Patel has broken.
He had promised to install Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s statue before Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary.
However, yesterday was Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary and when we inquired, the sources in Airport Authority of India replied that there was no movement to install Sardar’s statue so far.
While inaugurating a new airport terminal in Ahmedabad, Praful Patel had said that the terminal would be fully functional on 15th August. However the terminal actually started functioning from 15th September. Thousands of passengers had to pay User Development Fee, even without using the new terminal during that time. It should be mentioned that the new terminal work had completed 2.5 years behind schedule. The minister was in hurry, and inaugurated it two months before the terminal started functioning.
In 4 July function, Praful Patel had promised that the new terminal would be world-class, but during monsoon, there was massive water leakage from new terminal’s roof. Also compare to other modern airport, there are very few facilities available in new terminal.
