How Gujarat tableau looked in 26 January parade(Photos)

Presented above are photos of Gujarat’s tableau during independence day parade today.
The Gujarat tableau at the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on January 26, 2011 depicted the ‘ Buddhist Heritage in Gujarat’. While a group of monks was walking in front of tableau, to be humming with the signature tune ’Buddham Sharanam Gachhchaami’.
The tableau tried to portray rich heritage of Buddhism present in the various form of across Gujarat, propagating the Buddhist teaching of non-violence and universal brotherhood since ancient times.The tableau prominently displayed a replicas of 4th Century Buddha statue found in Dev-ni-mori, along with the Buddhist ‘mudras’ (symbols) found at Vadnagar underneath the statue and a bust of Buddha in meditation.
It was followed by replicas of ‘Interi Pithika’, made of molded bricks found at Vadnagar and preserved in a golden casket at Dev-ni-mori, carrying small quantity of ashes of the Lord Buddha in the urn. The ‘Pithikas’ are scripted in Buddhist symbols along with a stone edict of King Ashoka. Also shown is the great Chinese traveler Hiuen Tsang.
In the rear end of the tableau was a model of ‘Khambhalida’ cave found near Rajkot, with sculptures of Buddha, Varadtara, Dharanmata and Vajrapani.
