Gandhinagar, 23 August, 2011
Gujarat Law Minister Dilip Sanghani today expressed his disagreement over Anna Hazare putting pressure on government to bring and pass Jan Lokpal bill in parliament.
Sanghani said mobocracy can not replace democracy and it was not right to seek that parliament pass only Hazare’s version of Jan Lokpa bill. He said such methods are threat to democracy. He also termed Hazare’s method as interference in the working of parliament.
Meanwhile Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi continues to support Anna. Modi tweeted on Tuesday, “nation concerned about Anna’s health. Congress talks of democracy, and parliament but uses anti-democratic means to wipe out Anna’s movement.”
In another tweet, Modi added, “my request to dear tweeples:let us expose each of the undemocratic means used to curb Anna’s movement through tweets.”
This is perhaps for the first time that Modi government’s minister has expressed his independent opinion on any issue which clearly different from the opinion expressed by the Chief Minister publicly.
