Chandrakant Barot, a senior citizen from Ahmedabad’s Maniyasha society is on indefinite fast since 16 August in Ahmedabad parallelly with Anna Hazare’s fast in Delhi. Barot’s health was unstable yesterday after which an ambulance was called to dharna protest site outside the Town hall in Ahmedabad. However Barot refused to get into the ambulance van and also refused to take anything from mouth. The doctors then gave him glucose drip through injected needle. Barot is still in the camp on indefinite fast and is willing to take food only after Anna Hazare breaks his fast in Delhi.

-This is Chandrakantbhai’s 14th fast in his life for people’s causes.
-He fasted for the first time when then PM Rajiv Gandhi visited Gujarat. His four-day fast condluded when Ahmed Patel resolved the issue.
-Barot has two daughters. Prior to leaving home for dharna camp he had told his daughters that he would not leave the fast until solution is arrived on Janlokpal.
-Barot had fasted three times for Maninagar railway underpass.

Mr. Chandrakant Barot has been hospitalized late in the evening. He is undergoing treatment at V.S.hospital.
