Back from urban China, Narendra Modi on rural Gujarat beat

Ahmedabad, 15 November, 2011

Back from urban China, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is now busy on Gujarat’s rural beat.

While Garib Kalyan Melas are going on in presence of his ministers, Modi’s presence is being seen on the stage of district level Sadbhavana fasts.

Government machinery is being used in all these programs at optimum level, as both Garib Kalyan Mela and Sadbhavana fast are declared government programmes.

Taking break from Sadbhavana and Garib Kalyan but not from rural beat, in a big government function on 16th in Gandhinagar, Modi will give away the awards to best gram panchayats of the state. Sarpanchs from all over the state are called to attend this function at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

Though Modi terming his fasts apolitical, it is largely believed that Modi’s all this district level hard work is partially due to Gram Panchayat elections that are scheduled to take place next month.

While Gujarat will have assembly poll next year for all 182 seats, building mega-wave to impress larger mass of people through Moditva, development and brave statements against central government is relatively easy task for Modi, on the other hand, micro-wave effect at village level can be created through favorable sarpanch in each village. So, putting nano-technology in practice well, and mixing micro and mega, Modi is on rural beat to ensure maximum Samras villages(where local panchayat body is elected unopposed) and BJP ruled villages.

So what Congress is doing actually?

Well, Gujarat Congress is busy in showing black flags where Garib Kalyan Melas are organized and the party is also busy in organizing counter fasts against Modi’s Sadbhavana fasts. The party is also holding Jan Adhikar Sammelans in districts.

Congress party opposes Modi’s idea of Samras village. Modi govt encourages villages that elect their panchayat body unopposed under Samras scheme. Gujarat Congress on the other side believes that in democracy election should be welcomed and Samras is not right concept. Modi however believes that Samras is actually a Gandhian concept. Modi says at local level, elections sow seeds of rivalry and pollute the cordial and peaceful environment.
