About 60% of Gujarat population is on Voters list

According to the summary revision of electoral rolls of Gujarat which ended on Thursday, the total number of electorate in Gujarat as on January 1, 2012 are 3.6 crore, as against 3.76 crore exactly a year ago. This means 59.5% of Gujarat’s population is on voters list. Ahead of Gujarat assembly election, scheduled in December this year, Gujarat office of the Election Commission of India(ECI) has launched a ten-day campaign starting from Thursday to register voters in 18-20 age group. ECI has taken a decision to open Voter Facilitation Centre across the state.
