Ahmedabad, 7 March, 2012
Junior doctors in Ahmedabad’s Civil hospital have unconditionally taken back their strike and have rejoined the duty.
Today was the fifth day of this strike. While about half of the junior doctors had resumed their duty couple of days back, some other continued to be with the strike call.
Resident Doctors were demanding a bill for making assault on doctors a non bailable offense. However the state government was not in mood to succumb to the demand of junior doctors immediately. The government asked the doctors to first end their strike.
As many as nine doctors who were leading the strike were suspended and were kicked out of their hostel rooms.
Today when the government was ready to invoke ESMA, the doctors decided to end the strike and rejoined the duty.
This was third strike in last six months. In earlier strikes, the state govt had taken liberal stand, contrary to tougher stand this time.
