Narendra Modi to fulfill Gujarat Congress’s poll promises

Ahmedabad, 1 September 2012

Early this week Gujarat Congress promised a list of medical sops if elected to power.

Now look at Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s reaction in action.

Next week on 4 September, the Chief Minister will announce formation of Gujarat Medical Services Corporation in a function in Gandhinagar.

Interestingly on 28th of August, Gujarat Congress in its poll promise had announced formation of Gujarat Medical Services Corporation similar to similar corporation functioning in Congress ruled Rajasthan state.

Soon after Congress party’s press meet, state minister Jaynarayan Vyas told the reporters that Gujarat government has already decided to form such commission and budget too has been allocated for this purpose early this year.

Now just after a week of Congress’s announcement, Shri Modi will announce Gujarat Medical Service Corporation(on 4 September in Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar)

In its 28 August announcement, Gujarat Congress had also promised insurance cover to needy people for treatment.

On 4 September, Chief Minister will also announce Amrutam scheme, under which limited number of below poverty line people will be given cashless treatment upto Rs two lakh in life-threatening cases( Congress had announced a scheme of medical insurance similar to southern Indian states which would give cover to a person upto Rs 30,000 and would also cover middle class people and not only below poverty line people).

The Chief Minister will also launch Khilkhilat van which would drop new born baby and mother back to their home.

This is not first time that Modi will react to Congress’s poll promises in action. Last year Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela promised stringent law to deal with cow trafficking and killing. Modi brought a bill pertaining to this in next assembly session and passed law similar to what Vaghela had talked about in an interview. The law is now in action.

Recently Gujarat Congress’s proposed ‘Ghar nu ghar’ scheme evoked excellent response across the state. Soon after that Gujarat government’s housing board came into action and gave push to its already planned scheme of constructing more than 6,000 affordable homes.
