Gandhinagar, 5 September 2012
Taking a dig at Gujarat Congress’s poll promise announced yesterday to give free laptop to college students if elected to power, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi raised a question that Congress has not been able to give Akash tablet for which people paid Rs 3,000, then how they would give free laptop?
Speaking at Teachers day function in Gandhinagar Shri Modi today morning said, “Those who are responsible to catter truth to you are slipped. Therefore I have to do this job. Let my students know the truth.”
“11 months back, in 2011 October, Delhi based Congress minister Kapil Sibbal had organized an event. Nation’s top most media was present there, and Sibbal showed Akash tablet laptop and said that students will get it for Rs 3,000. It was not free, one had to pay Rs 3,000. And people paid also.”
“Today, after 11 months, Akash tablet has not landed on the earth. I now understand why they had named it Akash. If Akash had landed on the earth, some weight could be felt in the falsehoods they spread today.”
“Now when they say they will give laptop for free, such announcement doesn’t get weightage among public,” he added.
