Gujarat Congress will start statewide dharna to seek Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation for his “direct involvement” in the state fisheries scam. This was announced in an official media communication today.
The dharna programmes will take place in 27 districts and 8 cities, said Gujarat Congress President Shri Arjun Modhwadia.
“The Chief Minister should resign from his post until the probe in this case is over. The state government is involved in more than 17 different scams involving more than Rs 1 lakh crore. Instead of feeling shame, the Chief Minister is on yatra to spread falsehoods in the name of Swami Vivekanandaji,” Modhwadia said.
He said that fisheries scam could not happen without the permission of the Chief Minister. Fishing rights for 58 water bodies were given for Rs 40 crore without tender process. When the Gujarat High Court asked to reissue the orders the state earned Rs 400 crore revenue from that.
“The Gujarat High Court has backed the view that the minister of state was involved int he scam. Such a junior minister couldn’t decide the things on his own, therefore a complaint should be filed against the Chief Minister also and until the probe is completed, the Chief Minister should resign,” Modhwadia said.
Modhwadia in his statement described Gujarat Chief Minister as the biggest fund manager of BJP.
