Ahmedabad, 4 October 2012
Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi is now closer to the people through a new TV channel ‘Namo Gujarat’.
The channel ‘Namo Gujarat’ has completed its ‘test signal’ phase. It is now available on all cable networks(including GTPL and In Cable) across Gujarat on channel no. 9 (S1).
Interestingly, ‘Namo Gujarat’ channel is now also available in LIVE streaming format on its own website namotv.com.
On the production side, we at DeshGujarat tested it, and found excellent production and reception quality so far.
On the conceptual side, this is a perfect platform to air BJP’s press conferences, Modi’s important speeches, interviews of BJP people, public opinion and other stuff. It is to be seen, however, how effectively Modi’s team actually use this platform, because catering interesting content, and putting it in an interesting way is a big challenge.
Coming to the content part, if ‘Namo Gujarat’ team can continuously add fresh content, if it can occasionally provide live content, if it can cater variety of content rather than unifocal approach, if it can announce and follow some kind of schedule (very important), if it can cater correct information in time (competing with the traditional news media), if it can also have some youth appeal, the channel will be more interesting for sure.
This is a welcome step in connecting the mainstream political party to people through technology.
