Completely wipe out the Congress from north Gujarat: Narendra Modi

Ahmedabad, 9 October 2012

Those English political pundits who have no faith in the politics of development will once again be proved wrong in the forthcoming Gujarat assembly elections, said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on the 16th day of his Vivekananda yatra.

Speaking at Tharad in a public rally, the Chief Minister said, “the yatra is receiving unprecedented support and love. It is being blessed by the people. This is perhaps for the first time in the history of Gujarat that such a thing is happening. Political experts till now believed that the issue of development cannot work in politics . They considered this to be bad politics which would fail to award a victory. But the people of Gujarat have given importance to the issue of development in 2002 and 2007, and even in 2012 elections, development is the only issue. Political pundits who have no faith on development politics will be proven wrong again after the elections.”

Modi said he met the Prime Minister at least ten times to request permission to erect gates over the Narmada dam. But though the PM says the demand is valid, he fails to give permission for it. We are bearing this injustice. Even if they permit us to set up the gates, it will take three years to complete the work. Until then, the surplus water of Narmada will drain into the sea. This is the Congress’s mentality.

Modi said Congress people are very smart. They have cheated you in 15 elections in the past, and they can do it again. There should be a complete wipe out of the Congress party in all of north Gujarat this time.
