Ahmedabad, 12 October 2012
The Gujarat Congress has issued an official statement supporting him in Karjan toll booth episode. Gujarat Congress in its statement issued today evening said that party would give (agitation) programmes across the state against rough behavior and collections of toll tax contractors.
According to a statement issued by the party spokesperson today evening, “toll tax contractors misbehave with transporters, common people, villagers and women, and such incidents come into light often.”
“Those working on toll tax booths are for giving service to the people. Instead of giving smooth service, they misbehave with people which is serious issue.”
“MPs and MLAs are free from paying toll tax across the nation. It is not proper to make allegations to hide misbehave with elected representatives.”
“Congress party’s elected MP showed his identity card. Rough behavior of toll tax employees and contractors will not be tolerated in any circumstances. To stop the elected MP, MLA for one hour at toll tax booth is very serious issue.”
“Various programmes will be given in near future against collections of toll tax contractors and their rough behavior.”
Editor’s remark
The statement issued by the party doesn’t mention anything about Radadia’s behavior, a police complaint filed against him, he using weapon etc. It doesn’t mention that Radadia was stopped because he refused to show original identity card and was not ready to pay toll tax alternatively.
