Ahmedabad, 17 October 2012
It was a spectacular start of Navratri 2012 at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad today evening. Due to code of conduct in effect, the Chief Minister couldn’t come. None of the state minister could remain present. Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani and Chief Secretary Shri AK Joti were therefore in centerstage.
Nathwani heads the Gujarat Industries Navratri Festival Society – organizing body of 9 days long public event of Navratri in Ahmedabad which is visited by lakhs of youths from across the city. Those who can’t afford to spend expensive tickets of commercial garba venues come to Navshakti Gurjari event where thanks to patronage of Reliance, Adani, Essar, Nirma, Arvind, JP Cement and other companies, entry is free and security, parking and other facilities are excellent.
The inaugural day of this event showcases a musical drama on Navratri theme on large stage. Today’s stage event was better than the past events, thanks to addition of new technology, fire works, hanging ropes and other elements.
Amazing stage musical drama on Navratri theme
Chief Secretary Joti, IAS Shrinivasan, IAS Vipul Mitra, IAS Bhagyesh Jha, Shri Parimal Nathwani, former Rajya Sabha MP Shri Surendra Patel, Mayor Asit Vora, Standing Committee Chairman and others were present in the function.
The aarti scene was unparalleled. From Army and Navy officers to industrialists, bureaucrat and others every one among them was having diya in hand.
Dancing Garba wearing blue kurta is IAS Bhagyesh Jaha. You can also watch ‘Swami Vivekananda’ dancing on Garba tune and foreigners dancing in European style on Garba songs
After the event all those characters in the stage show including Swami Vivekananda, Ramkrishna Paramhansa, Narad, demons, Mahisasur, nine goddesses, and some foreigners all of them started playing garba on stage togather. The scene was worth seeing. The mood of celebration was on its peak.
Generally you don’t’ see IAS officers playing Garba, but Bhagyesh Jha was playing Garba with all energy. Again saying, the mood of celebration was on its peak and none was untouched.
Yes the people were disappointed little because they expected actual Garba event after stage event which was not the case.
