According to a report published in today’s Indian Express, a Congress Councillor from Junagadh, Shahnaz Qureshi may join the BJP on November 1. Qureshi is of the opinion that Muslims are not treated well in the Congress. She says that the Congress won the Junagadh Municipal Corporation with the support of Muslims. There are seven Muslim Councillors elected on Congress ticket in Junagadh. Besides Qureshi another Councillor Abdul Razzaq Mahida may also join the BJP. Recently a former state spokesperson of the Congress Asifa Khan joined the BJP in Bharuch. Junagadh is one of only two Municipal Corporations won by the Congress. The other is Gandhinagar where the Congress Mayor recently openly wrote a letter to state Congress president terming Narendra Modi as Vikaspurush and Congress poll promises as unrealistic and humbug.
