AMC staff remove HITLER
October 30, 2012

Ahmedabad, 30 October 2012
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) finally came into the picture and removed the hoarding of one private garment shop named after Hitler in city’s Vastrapur area.
The name of the shop had created controversy in Jewish community in India and abroad. Few Jews had visited the shop in protest and had offered compensation too if the shop owner agrees to change the name of the shop. The shop owner too agreed to this initially, but excited with the publicity his newly opened shop was getting, later on he refused to change the name.
Finally today the AMC staff intervened and removed the name from the shop.
There’s a law introduced by the state government in recent past that makes it mandatory to write shop’s name in Gujarati. Hitler was found violating this and few other norms.
