Core part of the speech
Ahmedabad, 31 October 2012
Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today addressed Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) youths at Gandhiangar Town hall. Following is the core part of his speech:
-They want to contest the polls through money, we will fight through people.
-Even though Diwali is approaching, more than 1300 youth friends are set to go to villages for a week. This is BJP’s strength.
-BJP will win the elections through the power of organization. We don’t want to take a short cut.
-Whether we appear in the newspapers or not, we will continues to stay in the hearts of the people. Remember the 2007 elections. The cyclone of misinformation and lies was so strong that it appeared we would not survive. Same attempts are made now again. They are again spreading lies, but if we have dedication for people and honesty on our side, the end voter will stay unmoved.
-The experiences during the Vivekananda Yatra were unimaginable. Today, when as a rule politicians are heartily disliked by people, the BJP received amazing love, respect and a warm welcome. This is not a small thing. Manmohan government is in power since the last 8 years, but they are not capable of looking people in the eye and speaking to them. On the other hand BJP workers are visiting polling booths. This proves that there’s truth on our side.
-At the time when ticket distribution is in discussion, at the time of lobbying for ticket, more than 1300 youths are leaving home. This shows BJP’s inner strength and character. The party is fortunate therefore.
-Our shinning youths will visit villages and the villagers would ask, “don’t you have to celebrate Diwali?” And you should reply “We will celebrate Diwali on 20 December(the election result day), we will celebrate it in a grand way, we will celebrate it like never before.” Tell the people in villages that there are two Diwalis this year. One is traditional Diwali and another is Diwali of democracy. Don’t tell the villagers that we have completed so many works. To do a work is government’s responsibility. All we need to say is that we have learnt so much in past ten years and as we have learnt much, we want to work more with our experience and therefore need your blessings.
-Vistaraks explored villages ahead of 2007 elections also. People were waiting for somebody to pick their finger. Our vistaraks not only visited them to hold their finger, but also to hug them. We are not going to give some message or to preach them. We are going to seek blessings of elder ones and to hug the youths. This will surely give benefit to the BJP, but we ourselves will also earn much benefit. Pandit Dindayalji used to say, Charaivati, charaivati…. keep moving. People will observe you in detail and judge the party through their experience with you. If they find you good, they would think that the party that is represented by such youths must be good. Then they will not need Modi’s speech or leaders, our each army man will capture a fort.
Editor’s note: What is Vistarak?
Vistarak and Pracharak are two terms used in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. While Pracharak is life time full timer committed to RSS work(Modi is RSS pracharak deputed to the BJP), Vistarak is full timer for a specific period, say a week or a month or even a year. Both Vistarak and Pracharak leave their city/town/village and shift to another place, where their stay, food etc arrangements are looked after by organization. Pracharaks/Vistaraks visit party workers, meet their family, and have dinner/lunch with them at their home.
