Junagadh, 6 November 2012
After leaving the Congress party and switching over to BJP a local Councillor in Junagadh Shehnaz Qureshi told media persons that five Muslims (Councillors) may also join BJP.
It should be mentioned here that on Monday, two Muslim Councillors of Junagadh Municipal Corporation(JMC) left Congress party and submitted resignations.
In a house of 51, the Congress has 27 Councillors (including the two who resigned today) and is supported by three BSP members. The BJP has 21 Councillors.
Now the equation has changed and in a house of 49, Congress has 25 Councillors while BJP has 21. Resignation of five more Congress Councillor may give power to BJP in JMC.
Congress party enjoys majority and power only in one Junagadh Municipal Corporation at present.
