Gujarat Congress today filed a complaint against Baba Ramdev for doing election propaganda in the name of Yoga camps.
Congress party’s statement on this complaint released today doesn’t exactly mention Baba Ramdev’s name, but the word ‘Baba’ has been used in it for number of times.
The statement said, “ahead of the elections in Gujarat, Babas and Sadhus organize Yoga and religious discourses programms and attract Gujarat’s religious people. They mix up religious discourses with political talk and ask to vote for a particular party. In their speeches they misled the voters indirectly. For last some days, Baba is directly doing political campaign in the name of Yoga in Gujarat, and his coordinators behind the curtain are connected to political party or communal organizations.”
Gujarat Congress’s statement further said, “the Election Commission had been requested to take proper actions against such religious events and babas in past too, but it seems the effective steps are not taken against such Babas who are openly active in campaign in the name of faith, and who are breaching the code of conduct rules. The Election Commission should immediately take legal actions for breach of the code of conduct against such Babas.”
