A new BJP advertisement in Gujarati television channels has mocked the rival Congress for its lack of a clear leader for the post of Chief Minister. The advertisement convey that the Congress doesn’t have one chief ministerial nominee while the BJP has an undisputed captain for the post.
The TV advertisement begins with two teams ready for Kabaddi game. One team is wearing saffron t-shirt and other team is in blue t-shirt. Couple of blue team members are shown angry over each other over t-shirt. Then a referee blow his whistle and calling the captains of two teams to come forward for the toss. While the captain of the team in saffron jersey confidently steps forward, the players of the other side look at one another indecisively, finally no one coming forward.
Then the referee calls for the vice-captain in option. Members of the team in blue jersey again look at one another in confusion and then many of then move forward, only to be pulled back and prevented by others from going ahead.
As members of the team in blue jostle to settle the issue of vice captainship, the frame fades out to make room for the BJP’s election symbol lotus. The punch line says “Ekmat Gujarat, bane BJP sarkar” (Gujarat is unanimous, let there be BJP Government).
The advertisement doesn’t show any of the Congress leaders, but the message it conveyed is crystal clear.
