Harshadbhai Ribadia filed nomination for Congress a day before on Friday
Ahmedabad, 24 November 2012
An unidentified youth today snatched away Congress party’s mandate for Visavdar seat in Junagadh Sub Divisional Magistrate office campus.
The mandate was with district Congress president Lilabhai Khunti, when an unidentified youth came closer, snatched it away and fled.
The mandate was for Ratilal Mangrolia – a candidate selected by the Congress party.
On Friday, Congress’s Harshad Ribadia had filed nomination form for Visavdar seat.
Mangrolia today claimed that partymen are involved in the incident of mandate theft.
Meanwhile, officially there’s no Congress candidate on Visavdar seat, and it can be said that Congress has lost one seat before fighting the poll.
It is also believed that the incident was staged, and the motive was to give smooth way to Keshubhai Patel for direct fight with BJP.
At present Mangrolia has filed nomination with photocopy of mandate. The party has requested the election officials to consider photocopy valid for now. The actual mandate will be sent later.
