Two-member commission to probe into Singhal tapes

The Gujarat government has formed two-member inquiry commission to look into tapes submitted by IPS Singhal to CBI that recently leaked in media. The commission has former additional chief secretary KC Kapoor and former High Court Justice Sugnahen Bhatt as members. The commission will give its report in three months.
Following is the official statement issued by the Government
Recently certain news items had appeared in the print and electronic media quoting certain audio-tapes published on web portals “Kobrapost” and “Gulail” regarding some alleged incident(s) of security / surveillance of a woman in the State of Gujarat in 2009.
After considering all aspects of the case, the State Government has decided to get the matter inquired in the larger public interest to gather, assimilate and establish the truth.
Thus, the Government of Gujarat has constituted a two-member
Commission of Inquiry under the Commission of Inquiries Act, 1952 to inquire into and report on the said incident(s).
The Inquiry Commission constituted by the Gujarat Government shall consist of –
(1) Justice (Retd.) Ms. Sugnyaben K. Bhatt – Retired Judge of Gujarat High Court.
(2) Shri K.C. Kapoor, IAS (Retd.) – Retired Additional Chief Secretary.
The Commission shall be headed by Justice (Retd) Ms. Sugnyaben K. Bhatt.
The Inquiry Commission has been asked to submit its report to the State Government within a period of three months.
