Gandhinagar, 11 January 2014
Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, Ahmed Patel has written a letter to union civil aviation minister Ajit Singh over Ahmedabad airport parking fee.
Following is the full text of Ahmed Patel’s letter:
It has come to my notice that Airport Authority of India (AAI) has imposed a minimum parking fee of Rs.70 for every vehicle that spends more than five (5) minutes between entry and exit gate of departure arena of Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat.
The distance between entry and exit gate through departure arena itself takes at least 3 minutes to cover and the passengers are left with very little time to alight from the vehicle, unload the luggage and allow the vehicle to proceed and cross the exit gate within the stipulated 5 minutes of free time. As a result, majority of vehicles end up paying a minimum of Rs. 70 towards parking without actually parking the vehicle!
The free time of just 5 minutes to drop off a passenger at the departure arena and exit the area is to short and needs to be extended to 10 minutes. This will give huge relief to genuine passengers who are departing from Ahmedabad airport.
I hope this shall merit your earliest consideration and necessary action.
