CBI files supplementary chargesheet in Ishrat encounter case, names four IB officers as accused

Ahmedabad, 6 February 2014

Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) today filed supplementary charge-sheet in court in Ahmedabad in Ishrat Jahan encounter case.

The 200-page 2nd charge-sheet names former Intelligence Bureau(IB) officer Rajendra Kumar as main accused who according to CBI conspired the encounter and also supplied arms to then Gujarat Police officer GL Singhal. IB cops Sinha, Vankhede and Mittal are also named in charge sheet as accused under sections 102, 302, 364 and Arms act.

The next line:

What it seems at this point of time is that the four IB officials will be summoned. They will be sent to judicial custody. Like Singhal if CBI finds one or two weak officers, they will be asked to name target no.1 Narendra Modi. If they do so, they will be offered freedom like Singhal. If they don’t sing, they will be kept in jail like Vanzara, Pandey and others. If Amit Shah has not been named in today’s supplementary charge-sheet, that is not the end of the game. CBI can file any number of supplementary charge-sheets in future. It should not be forgotten that in today’s charge-sheet, CBI is silent on motive.
