Vadodara, 12 February 2014

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lay foundation stone of a Rs 109.91 crore 10 Mega Watt (MW) canal top solar photovoltaic grid connected power plant over Narmada canal in Vadodara on 14 February. The plant is likely to be operational this year itself and will produce 16.2 million units in the first year.

The project covers a distance of over five km from Vishwamitri Siphon to Railway Siphon. It will be executed in engineering procurement construction (EPC) mode by Hyderabad based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited, the company that will also maintain the plant for 25 years. The canal-top location of over 30,000 panels plant will save land acquisition cost, however civil construction and fabrication costs will be high as the canal level is higher than the ground.
