Sympathy with Harinbhai, PM choice Narendrabhai

Ahmedabad, 24 March 2014
The dissatisfaction among BJP workers starting from Maninagar and Khadia to Dehgam against denial of ticket to Harin Pathak is not without reason. Party workers and party’s middle class voters are disappointed with this decision, and there’s no doubt about it.
On behalf of the Gujarat BJP, party’s spokesperson Vijay Rupani in his statement told media persons that Harinbhai has been a member of parliament for last seven terms, now someone else should be given chance.
While Rupani said this purely from organizational point of view, the voters react to this issue from their own perspective which is service related.
We have mentioned it before, and here we are writing the same story once again.
The city of Ahmedabad falls under three Lok Sabha seats: Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad West and Ahmedabad East.
Gandhinagar MP LK Advani lives in Delhi. He has no functional office in any of the assembly segment under his seat. Or if he has office, it is not known to us after one and half decade of active journalism. Advani has remained a token MP who is elected in the name of BJP and national interest. He hardly pays visit to people of Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar. He visits Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar four/five times a year without a night halt. He mostly comes here for some inauguration, or some meeting. Yes but people would still vote for him, or say for BJP.
Another sear Ahmedabad West is reserved seat for Schedule Caste candidate. BJP MP of Ahmedabad West Dr. Kirit Solanki has been hardly seen in public in last five years. He was a doctor in V S hospital of Ahmedabad and had not contested even municipality poll. When he was picked up by Gujarat BJP supremo Narendrabhai Modi in year 2009 as candidate, everyone was surprised. As he was a BJP candidate, he won. However most of the people and even party organization members are clueless about where he lives, or where is his office. He is again selected as candidate this time, and he will win because people vote for BJP here.
The third seat, Ahmedabad East is represented by BJP MP Harin Pathak. During his seven terms, he has served lakhs of people through various ways, and there’s no exaggeration. Harinbhai is servent by nature, and his office functions efficiently. As the other two MPs in Ahmedabad are seen as just token BJP representatives, and Maninagar MLA Narendra Modi is Chief Minister, the entire traffic of needy people diverts to Harin Pathak’s flat every morning for municipality, state government and central government related works. Through his position, experience and nature of service, Harinbhai has extended help to unimaginable number of people in all these years. At 67, Harinbhai is not someone whom party leadership should throw into dustbin. He owns unmatched experience and energy as Lok Sabha MP. Harinbhai is someone in whom you can see a glimpse of BJP leaders who belong to pre 1980s era. He is someone in whom you can identify the taste of old Ahmedabad, particularly Khadia.
If not he, party workers and voters will continue to stay with BJP from national perspective and for greater cause, but to close the door of Harinbhai’s house for common public forcefully is not justified. How he will be able to serve people without some position? Where will people go?
Yes ‘parivartan sansaar no niyam chhe‘, and nothing is permanent, but then what is described above is top drawing-room discussion point during most of the middle class gatherings in Amdavad these days.
