Bollywood heroine Vidya Balan’s Gujarat visit was successful in a way. The idea behind her Vadodara visit was to give publicity push to her upcoming film Bobby Jasoos. And enough publicity was gained by her at least in Vadodara, thanks to mechanized controversy.

First the agency responsible for film’s publicity leaked a news story in Hindi daily claiming that Vidya was going to adopt Narendra Modi’s look during her Vadodara visit for film’s publicity. The report claimed she would adopt Narendra Modi’s look and visit a tea-shop owner and BJP worker Kiran Mahida who was Narendra Modi’s proposer during Modi’s candidature on Vadodara Lok Sabha seat. And all this for film’s publicity.

Fair enough. Then couple of news channels tried to build up controversy around this “proposed move” and gave Vidya and her film further mileage for hours on TV screen(of course on their channel, others didn’t touch this issue to avoid giving publicity). The channels questioned Vidya’s “proposed publicity move” and contacted BJP leaders and sought their opinions on camera.

Finally Vidya Balan visited Vadodara today and met city BJP president to clarify that she is not going to have Narendra Modi’s get-up for her film’s publicity.

Actually she doesn’t need it now, as publicity had been gained, at lease locally.
