Rains in Ahmedabad, under bridges closed, Sabarmati aarti under umbrellas

The city of Ahmedabad on Tuesday witnessed heavy raining. It started with several areas in east including Maninagar, Khokhra, Bapunagar, CTM, and later also covered the areas of west Ahmedabad. At least two under bridges at Shahibaug and Mithakhali were closed for traffic following water logging for some time. They were later reopened.
The Chief Minister who was scheduled to attend Sabarmati river’s first Maha aarti, organized by Jagannath Mandir reached at least half and hour late at Sabarmati river front due to rain. The aarti was performed under umbrellas by Chief Minister, city Mayor, city BJP president and MLA Rakesh Shah, city prabhari minister Shankarbhai Chaudhary among others. Jagannath Mandir mahant Shri Dilipdasji was present on this occasion.
Water logging was continued to be experienced in low lying areas of east Ahmedabad.
Water was released from Vasna barrage to maintain the level in river Sabarmati.
Some flights including the evening flights of Indigo, Air India are late for half an hour to hour due to atmospheric conditions.
Railway traffic was adversely affected since morning due to water logging and flood like situation in South Gujarat.
