The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today received Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife at Hotel Grand Hyatt in Ahmedabad. After photo-up outside the hotel entrance, Shri Modi took Xi Jinping to a specially set up gallery showcasing Buddhist heritage in Gujarat. The gallery had mainly a set of pictures and details of Buddhist heritage from Vadnagar and Devni Mori towns in north Gujarat. Shri Modi personally narrated the details of panels to Chinese President and first lady. Shri Modi showed a panel featuring a recently excavated archaeological site in Vadnagar in which Buddhist monastery has been discovered. Relics from this site were also featured in couple of panels. With this, cultural ties between China and India in context of Buddhism were recalled. Yesterday Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech mentioned that Chinese traveler Hu-en-Tsang visited Gujarat’s Vadnagar about 400 years ago, and now Chinese President is visiting Gujarat. It has to be mentioned that today is the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose birthplace is Vadnagar.
