Dahod all set to get Kadana water supply

Dahod, 10 October 2014

District headquarters Dahod in tribal belt of east Gujarat is likely to start getting through Kadana water project by Diwali this year.

Water supply from Kadana water project has reached filter plant built in college campus so far. With completion of works in Godi road area, it is likely that Gujarat Chief Minister may inaugurate the project on 17th of this month. If all works are completed on time, the city of Dahod will start getting Kadana water supply from January next year.

Dahod gets water supply from Thakkarbapa reservoir which was built in year 1953-54 in Patadungri. Dependent on this old scheme, Dahod municipality is just not able to supply water on daily basis.

In year 2012, the then Narendra Modi government approved Kadana project. Shri Modi had performed ground breaking of this Rs. 127 project. The target of completion of this project was 10 months, however now after two and half years, it has been completed.

Water supply department has completed two phase testing. Water from Kadana travels 80 km distance on natural gravity force, while the next 40 km stretch between Bhanasimal and Hirola is traveled through pumping. From Hirola to polytechnic based plant it’s again gravity travel.

GUDM(Gujarat Urban Development) is at present laying new pipeline in Dahod at a cost of Rs. 6.50 crore. By that time, the task of connecting the main water tank of Dahod and newly built sump at polytechnic college will be connected possibly in December by municipality. It means, in next Uttarayan(14th of January) people of Dahod will most probably enjoy the fruits of the project and start getting Kadana water supply.
