Gujarat observing Bestu Varsh, businesses to reopen on Labh Pancham

It’s Gujarati new year day today with the first day of Vikram Samvat 2071. Vikram Samvat calendar is 55/56 years ahead of Christian calendar. The first month of Gujarati calendar is called Kartak. Today is the first day of Kartak.
Businesses and markets remain closed during Diwali across Gujarat. They reopen on Labh Pancham which is the fifth day of the month of Kartak.
This year Labh Pancham falls on 28 October when markets will reopen, and muhurt deals will take place.
With Dev Uthi Agiyaras ( 11th day of Kartak ) wedding season will resume after a long halt. However due to split tithi(date), Agiyaras vrat will be observed on Sunday.
