603.49 mt steel never arrived, Rs. 2.62 cr payment made, MEGA files police complaint against former senior manager

Chief Administrative Officer of Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad(MEGA) company limited, Rajesh Mehta has filed police complaint in sector 7 police station in Gandhinagar against former senior manager(construction) Radhesh Bhatt .
A total of 3182 metric tonne of steel worth Rs. 1415 lakh was shown purchased for metro rail project in records. During the audit only 2578 mt steel was found from all sites of project.
Thus 603.49 mt steel worth Rs. 2.62 crores was found missing.
After internal investigation, it was found that though payment was made, stock register entry of 603.49 tonne steel was not made. It was concluded that 603 tonne TMT steel never arrived at MEGA site, but then senior manager diverted this stock. He made fake certification and forwarded to account branch for payment. On the basis of fake certification, MEGA company paid Rs. 2,62,20,738 to suppliers.
A complaint has been lodged at sector 7 police station against Ahmedabad based Radhesh Dineshbhai Bhatt under sections 409, 418, 465, 467, 120(B) and 13(1)C. Investigation has been handed over to DySP Jethwa.
