353 villages of Kutch officially declared fully/partially scarcity-hit

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel today declared as many as 353 villages of Kutch region as the ‘Scarcity Affected Villages’ because these villages are facing shortages for drinking waters and fodder due to lack of insufficient rainfall during the last monsoon season.
Earlier, the State Government had conducted a survey of the Kharif Crops in these villages, as an outcome of it 79 villages were declared as ‘fully scarcity affected’ and 274 villages as ‘partly scarcity affected’.
The Chief Minister had issued orders to the concerned departments to take prompt and adequate relief measures in these scarcity affected villages to provide employments under the Manrega Scheme and drinking waters for the human and live-stocks.
In these villages, the small farmers and poor animal breeders will be provided 4 kg of grass on each cattle head at cost of Rs 2/- on the daily basis. The Gau-Shalas and Panjara Pols will get a subsidy of Rs. 25/- per day on each cattle head. Similarly, the cattle camps will also get a subsidy of Rs. 25/- per day on each cattle head.
Bhuj- 23 villages partially scarcity-hit
Bhachau – 11 villages partially scarcity-hit
Rapar – 30 villages scarcity hit, 17 partially scarcity-hit
Nakhatrana – 48 villages partially scarcity hit
Lakhpat – 49 villages scarcity hit, 46 partially
Kharif crop-1 anawari below 4 = Achhat(scarcity), between 4 and 6 = Ardh Achhat(half or partial scarcity)
